My Vocation is the Noblest Profession

Once I heard a story of the professionals who died and and should pass a screening before they could enter the gate of heaven. Each were asked what is the good deed they have done. Each of them answered:

Architect: I designed the most prestigious hotels and buildings in the world.

Engineer: I built all the buildings and hotels designed by the architect.

Doctor: I healed men from contagious and fatal diseases.

Teacher: I neither design/built a building nor cure men from fatal disease but I worked on the precious minds of these people.

Before entering the corporate world I was once a teacher and in my heart I will always be. On a class response, I sworn before my colleagues and mentors that I will practice the noblest profession and vowed to mold thy precious minds. I got lost somewhere in the middle when I decided to take a slight detour but in my heart this vocation will always be remembered and above all be loved.

My heart sank in pain when people talk s*** about my beloved profession. I know there' no money in teaching and if you don't know that, the more reason you should be thankful for the dedicated people out there who still devote their time in teaching.

Fulfilling this calling isn't easy at all. You can't wear this, you can't do that, you have to be like this and you have to be perfect. People demand that you should be perfect but they will degrade your profession in return. You will always be a subject of criticisms. They criticize this profession but without it, no profession will ever exist.

Teachers are not perfect, they have their flaws, they are humans and most of all nobody is perfect.

I will give you the rights to criticize and degrade educators if and only you will be doctors, engineers, and architects without passing through a molding hand of a teacher.

  4. Mayen I know that and I am glad you were given the chance to teach even for a short period of time. It's laborious but indeed fulfilling.

I still have the heart and I look forward to it but I am still contemplating on some few things. I have to decide carefully and besides I am still enjoying my stress stricken job. LOL!!!

  7. Musingan LOL! Talagang delehensiya pa naisip mo maganda sa pagiging teacher niya ah! Ikaw talaga Al.

ako gusto ko may follow-up question palagi para masaya. May challenging tapos mas broad na yung topic and it will open more gates for knowledge.

Al, if I followed my heart baka nawala na ako! I always decide with the combination of my heart and my brain. pag puso lang talo.

  12. it's a nice post Sey.. be proud to your profession. Our Family is a family of teachers too and i am so proud of them.

i may not like to teach but i admired the dedication of the teachers in teaching.

You can still continue to teach and impart your knowledge in teaching even though you're not in the world of your profession.

  14. In my mom's hometown there is one classroom there that has 3 primary levels, from grade 1 to grade 3 but if the population of a certain level is just a few the teacher would sometimes open the grade 4 level. When I had a talked with their teacher he said it's a kind of MULTI-EDUCATION SYSTEM and it wasn't really hard coz if he have to tackle a lesson for grade 1 he will leave an activity for the remaining levels. And when the students are all done with the 3 or sometimes 4 levels they will then have to study on the other town for grade 5 to grade 6, this is a hard-way for them just to finish their study because they will have to walk 3-4 kilometers a day. And when they have graduated from elementary, again they will have to study in other town which will took them for more than 1 hour of walking. That's why in their young age they would just agree to be a house maid just to study in high school, you are lucky enough if you have relatives on that town but still you have to work for your stay. Others would just be satisfied having their elementary education, it's a very sad story that I so badly want to help them that's why my mom want me to take up Education so that I can help her hometown, but I took up IT instead and promised my mom to help her hometown in other way. Sorry for making it too long.

  16. I believe that teaching is one of the most powerful professions in the world. There could be no better influence on children than teachers. But unfortunately many of the teachers have forgotten their power.I wish they could only understand. On the contrary, there are some teachers who just become the epitome of role model. And probably, because of them, the world is still a better place.

  18. When I was in college, there was this one teacher that I admired. By the way she carried herself, you'd know that she should be respected. And she deserved the respect. I still have all the respect for her.

  20. Thanks for a wonderful post. I was a teacher for over 30 years and loved it. Most teachers are dedicated and conscientious, and we would all be lost without them.

  21. So true.

Unfortunately, people will find reasons to criticize you no matter what you do. So do what you love.
