Who's Blind?

I miss reading your posts. I miss back-reading and I miss the blogosphere. It's like a gazillion years for me well in fact it's just a day or two since my last visit. I managed to sneak a bit however that bit of time isn't enough to connect.

I am buried on tons of reports now (please bear with me). The deadline is punching me right through my face but my mind is overwhelmed with my intense desire to write.

I also have one newbie to train. A newbie which will soon be part of our junior team. She has so much to learn but the process in becoming a part of the team will teach her the things she has to learn.

We also had some out of the topic conversation. Right now she's in a not so normal, not so legal, not so right relationship (okay, an illicit relationship-so to say) . The kind of relationship I'm not in favor with because there's one person who's being stepped on without her knowledge, that such situation is happening. (why not go out of the relationship first before engaging to another one? am I right?).

I asked her: Why she choose a complicated situation?

She said : I don't know, (she's speechless). Maybe because LOVE IS BLIND....

I told her:

"Love is not Blind
Lovers are not Blind
IT SEES BUT IT DOESN'T MIND..."

The Tale of the most sought after Victim of Frauds

I am always a victim. The most sought after victim of fraudulent people. Today history repeats itself.

Yesterday, my colleague transferred a client to me. I need to seal the deal. There's no waste of time in convincing him, he doesn't have any issues with the price, with the additional expedited cost, he just wanted the materials to arrive on the earliest date possible. For him not to have any issues is a clear sign of fraud, because most of the time our legit clients haggle with pricing except for our valued customers.

Without any hassles the transaction was closed but any transaction closed without hassles is a possible fraud. After the conversation, I had the gut feeling, however I never paid attention to it because this time complete information was given. With that being said, I forwarded the details to our main office.

Today, the IT and admin personnel came to me with a great news! I WAS A VICTIM OF FRAUD..... AGAIN! This things happens to me over and over again and history seems to repeat itself. This client was supposed to be handled by the one who's handling the education program however it turned out that he should be under the corporate account that's why he was transferred to me. My colleagues are now convinced that I was destined to have all the clients who are using stolen credit cards to use for their payments and use stolen identities because (according to them) I am the one with the strong feeling to discern who's fraud and who's not. With the same thing happening every time, one day I might believe they are speaking the truth.

I always have the feeling. I am informing my immediate superiors. I will narrate the reasons why I made such conclusion that it's fraud but we will still forward the details to our main office, give them the warning and they will validate the data and everything.

So far so good. They tried but they failed. No one slip through the magnifying eyes of the investigators.

But despite that, we still have so much to be thankful for. This month, each and everyone  reached the quota of US$_ _, _ _ _.00 or Php _, _ _ _, _ _ _. 00. We also received overwhelming positive remarks from our clients who are satisfied and happy with our service.
That made our heart swells.

I can Taste only the Extremes

 October 25, 2010, Monday
I went on my way to the office with heavy shoulders, like I'm Atlas carrying the world.
I wasn't able to fix the things I wanted to settle.
The rain is pouring so heavy like it wanted to wash away the tears.
I have no umbrella.

I rushed through the raindrops, like I was the thunder.
"You cannot stop me, I have to be there, it's almost time, I can't be late".
I reached the office, so exhausted, all soaked in water,
With the jacket on my head and a bag on my shoulder.
What a stressful day after a devastating weekend.

Fast forward: The day after that, I had a non-stop fever. I fed myself with medicines but none cure the illness. November 30, I went home for the holiday. That same day I was rushed to the hospital and the doctor found out I had lapses. My immune system became weaker and weaker each day due to stress and allergies. They also found out that due to those factors, my sinuses were affected somehow leaving me taste and smell impaired. And now here it goes, I can taste only the extremes: (super sweet, super, sour, super salty and super bitter). For the rest of the food, they're all the same and smells the same
source
Because of that I  lost my appetite which made me so skinny. I never crave for anything. I want my taste buds back. I want my sense of smell to be effective again.

Brotherhood

Today was scheduled for cleaning the office for some sort of bonding moment. I went to the supermarket yesterday to buy the cleaning materials. All was set and the only problem that I was thinking about is that we, "girls" will do all the work  but  I was surprised and amazed at the same time of what I witnessed today. What happened is the vice versa of my ugly thought. the guys did almost all the cleaning.
The spirit of brotherhood recognizes of necessity both the need of self-help and also the need of helping others in the only way which every ultimately does great god, that is, of helping them to help themselves.

To My Dearest Neighbors:

Source: MS Powerpoint Clip-art

Sorry if I wasn't able to get the chance to talk to you that much. You know I am working on night shift and I can't stand all day without sleeping just to get a sneak peak with what is happening on your life. I don't have so much time to waste on gossips and please understand if I am closing the door all the time and you can't see what's inside of my apartment ( I don't have that much appliances, I am alone in the house).

Please don't stare at me when I get out of the cab in the morning. It feels like I have the grossest look on earth. I feel shy. Please refrain from  mentioning how your children are good and how high paying their jobs are so that I will stop by and be intrigued because I won't. To tell you honestly, I've been to the company that you brag about and I for a fact know how exhausting, stressful and toxic the place is. I just want to let you know it doesn't mean you're part of that company, you have the same salary as the others. The truth is new companies give better offers than that. I love my job and I am happy with the people I am with. That's all...THANK YOU!

P.S. I am with a marketing company and not a "Call Center". We work on night shift because we cater United States corporate market.

David @ Work

David @ Work
Last night when I was at work, the boss came because he will be having a meeting with the client and the supervisor (did I mentioned that I am working on night shift?). I could guess that you are expecting for a typical CEO in tuxedo with a suitcase. Well, not for my boss! He comes on pants and sandals and most of the times carries nothing so if he have his laptop on hand, be ready because that means he will be staying longer than expected. But that seldom happens now. Not like when we were just starting. He comes to the office earlier than us and doing IT works. Let's get back to what happened last night at work. Since he doesn't have the laptop with him, he used the computer behind me. When the meeting started, he tap my chair and asked for a pen and a paper. I gave him what he needed and he started taking notes (that's what we guessed he was doing) while eating my food. Later on he called me again and hand the paper back to me with the picture above. While having a meeting he is doing sketches of us while at work (silly boss). I only showed what he had for me above and will post the others next time. He labeled it "David at work". Where did he get it? Oh, David is my surname and here at work they're calling me David as most of our clients calls me that, mistakenly identifying me as a man and thinking David is my name instead of a surname. I do understand because for Americans David is a name rather than a surname, isn't it? Anyway, I am used to it.

As much as I wanted to post a picture of him in here, of course I have to asks for his permission first. He will surely see it as he is stalking on my blog. He reads my posts and certainly knew if I have a problem and will talk to me downstair the next day making sure I was okay. He is more like a father to me. The coolest boss I've ever had. For sure when I'd get the chance to let you see his picture, you would wonder if he is really the boss, not because of his looks, but on how he get along with us. So down to earth.

In fact I was thinking of changing the name of my blog to "They Call Me David" what you think?

Salt and Pepper

Due to the nature of my job and it's requirements we are now nocturnal beings, like owls and bats. Switching night and day for almost two years now, things seems to be normal for me and my colleagues thought there some advantages and disadvantages. To sum up some, please refer to the list below:

Advantages:

  • Long rest day from Saturday morning till Monday night (exactly 9:59 pm)
  • High salary compared to day jobs
  • Add the benefit of a night differential pay, allowance and other fringe benefits
  • Less exposure to the deadly UV rays from the sun brought by the depletion of the ozone layer
  • Learn a lot of stuffs about computers (due to the nature of the business) and other facts from other countries plus other crazy thoughts which might be helpful sometimes (but not most of the time)
Disadvantages:
  • Big eye bags brought by inconsistency of sleeping hours
  • Being caught in the middle of the traffic in the morning while the rest of the country rush off to work
  • Less time bonding with friends because of different time schedules
  • Taking extra doze of medicines so that your body could cope up with the stress
  • Being stuck with the fancy foods (as I fondly called them) of fast food chains (yaiks) which is the reason why I came up with this topic for today.
I'm so sick with the foods we are eating during break hours. Name a meal and we tried it, almost familiar with the menu's of each place, eating the same thing over and over again. It's like you're eating a not so real and not so good food.

My depleting appetite scares me. I am becoming so thin and it's not good since I need extra energy and have to keep myself fit for the job which I could say I really love. I urge myself to search for some easy to cook healthy meals recipe's over the internet and browse over food blogs. What I needed are foods which are healthy, easy to cook and the ingredients are available and can be found even in the market here.

With all the websites that I visit like Video Jug salt and pepper are two seasonings which were always used
with all the food preparation. Do you guys noticed that they are totally opposite? Salt is white and pepper is black. But how come when both added to a certain meal their taste seems to complement each other. Isn't it amazing? And I admit I love them both like when eating a porridge, pizza, pasta, pancit and more. I hope you don't find me crazy though. I also love the taste of "pringles" with the salt and pepper flavor.

But this wouldn't be about mere foods only. Salt and Pepper teaches a lesson sometimes we cannot see because we're not paying attention to it or maybe because they are too ordinary. In my recent post about th movie fireproof Michael talked to Caleb regarding the later's marriage to a woman he thought to be different from him. Michael used salt and pepper to explain that choosing a partner never rely on how many similarities and differences you have but on deep respect and love for each other and completing each other's shortcomings.

See? Sometimes the best person for us is the complete opposite of ourselves who can fill out the emptiness and acknowledge the differences yet ready to accept.
