She broke her heart

"Everytime your heart was broken,
a doorway cracks open to a world full of new beginnings,
new opportunities"
-Patti Roberts

That's one of the thoughts I hold on to, when mine (heart) was badly broken. Brought not by courage or rational thinking but rather driven by the necessity to move on with life.

But that's not the case for everyone. When the very organ that sustains life is put to test, the bearer can take various actions: either mend it or let it rot cell by cell. And when you chose to mend it, different actions can be taken. You can apply what was said above and explore new horizons or even distract yourself with a new love prospect. It works in some ways and it worked for me once but not always. It's a case to case basis.

When a friend of mine had her heart broken, she resorted to diverting her attention to a new love prospect. Not bad, I know. The only thing she did wrong was rushing things, like plucking a young mango fruit from the tree out of excitement without thinking that the fruit will rot in a short span of time. No matter how we tried to persuade her to take things slow and give her heart an ample time to heal, she did it anyway. Needless to say, everything didn't quite went well so this time, I thought she broke her heart. The hardest part now is to repair the heart which is dealing with two heartbreaks.

Long story short, what will you expect from a relationship when both parties hadn't had the chance to know each other and accept each other's differences. It's like hunting for a unicorn in the deep blue see.

I don't want to go into details but I shared the story anyway so others could benefit from it. While such things worked for others it may not work for you so better be careful with your decisions. And it's better to mend your broken heart naturally, let time heal all wounds and believe me when I say, you will be proud of yourself in the end. It's like reaching the heights of Mt. Everest.

And remember, love is like a mango fruit. You have to wait for the right time, so you can enjoy the sweetness it has to offer.

It's not Trick or Treating that I miss

If you want to make me cry, you cannot use this topic to bring tears to my eyes. It's a moment in my life that I for a long time endured and accepted. I poured all the tears the day he bid his last goodbye but a moment I was not on his side.

He was strict but loving. He never failed to bring me a slice of custard cake when he gets his paycheck.  I tagged along when he's going out of town. I accompanied him when he visits his friend. I helped him watched the chickens in the poultry. I watched him cut bamboo trees to make a chair. He let me borrowed his racing bicycle. I am his avid fan when he played  baseball. We strolled town after town pedaling our bicycles. He loves coffee.

On December 15, it will be 10 years since he's gone. I didn't notice it's been that long. Maybe because I am still keeping him and his thoughts alive in my heart. And I know we didn't waste anytime of our time together.

But today is different. I was too emotional which is not usual for me. It maybe because I will not be there tomorrow to light a candle, bring him flowers and offer my prayers. I terribly miss my father.

The Unwed Mothers

My mind is vacant now. I'm trying to free it from work stuffs anyway it's weekend and I think I am entitled of enough time without stress.

But I don't know what's wrong with my brain. It seems to work even when I'm at sleep and it doesn't want to stop thinking. This morning, I found myself scanning the web looking for pictures of mother and child. I don't know what's with these kind of artworks but they really fascinates every bones in my body and they unleash the hidden artistic cells in me.

Then suddenly I thought of the unwed mothers and I was thinking if they are suffering the same disgust and insult if they're living on the other side of the world. I know my county is transforming from the contemporary to modern ways of living and there exist today those with open minds who can comprehend a lot and do not judge. However given that we're a transformation from a conservative country doesn't make the unwed mother free from the prying eyes of those who cannot bring their mind to understand.

I have a strong believe and love for our traditions and our beliefs and I do attest that my point of views drastically changed with the changes around me. If I was younger, I might judge them based on the judgement impacted to me by my society. But I feel so privilege that today, I see things differently. They may have been wronged but that doesn't mean they will be mistaken  for the rest of their lives. I cannot imagine the ruthless and unending criticisms they reaped for a mistake they once did but will continue to be endured by their lovely children. How sad but true that for them, the wound may heal but the scar will be visible forever.

I am happy that I can take my stand to let the whole world know that I admire unwed mothers. Taking care of a precious life they choose to live and taking into themselves all the criticisms this world has to offer, yet they can still stand and give a good fight to life.  They are much to be admired than those who are hiding their sh**s pretending to be saints.  Anyway, everyone deserves a second chance after all.

The Seven Wonders of the World

I received this video from a friend way back 2008. Actually I haven't met him personally. He just happened to be a client of our company and his account has been assigned to me. I am not quite sure if he is a pastor but I know they're sending missionaries all over the world to spread the word of God.  I dug this from an email he sent me over more than 3000 unread messages on my inbox and thought of sharing it to you.

I don't know who did this video so I cannot give proper credits, however I know that this is meant to be shared to all the people out there.

1. To See - Our eyes were given to us to see the beauty of the world and to see the beauty in others. Because not all that can be seen by our naked eyes are true. Let us use them to construct and not to criticize or destroy other people.

2. To Hear - Our ears are there so that we can be open to people who needs someone to listen to them and not to use them for gossips and rumors.

3. To Touch - To touch is something prerogative when you love cause this adds to the magical feeling.

4. To Taste - We should use our tongue to enjoy the  wonderful taste of foods in the world. Remember to guard our tongue because our words can make or break a person for thoughtless words can cause wounds deeply as any sword

Words said no matter how sorry you are in the end cannot reciprocate the hurt we may cause to others. (I just added this one, as you can notice on the video, #4 was missing)

5.  To Feel - Lucky are we to feel the different kinds of emotions. Be it fear, pain, anger or worries, feel them and let them make you a better person.

6.  To Laugh - Laughter is the best medicine as they say. Enjoy it while we can still enjoy the sense of being happy.

7. To Love - Did you ever tried locking your  heart because of the fear of being hurt again?  Believe me when I say pushing love away is so hard to endure. That isn't healthy because it will eventually draw you away from people.

Let the question be "How much love do you give?" rather than "Are you in love?"

Get back here, When Summer is Gone!

November 2011, when we sat around a bonfire and this couple shared with us their love story. Maybe for them, they only wanted to express but their audience were left inspired and somehow believed that true love and fairy tales really exist.

According to them it was a love story which blossoms out of then so famous phone pal. I was so amazed with the love story that it never registered to me how did they got each others' phone numbers. All I can remember was, it was a love made in seventh heaven. A love between a nerd and an activist which like any other love affairs suffered storms and trials. For some reasons in between their story they were separated but as they say true love finds its way where it truly belongs.

Now this couple are living a happy life with their 2 children and lately celebrated their 10th year anniversary. "The big man" as I call him showed to us the letter his wife gave to him. Me, as they know will not let any moment pass, I took my cellphone and took a picture of the letter and did a simple slideshow to commemorate their love fore each other.

                                            "Picnik Show"

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Big Man:

I would like to share with you an anecdote I read from a book authored by Fr. Jerry Orbos. When Summer is Gone.  This I doubt would happen but I know nothing is impossible and if it was meant to be it will happen beyond circumstances, but in the end When summer is gone, the key is "Commitment" which is the foundation of all true loving. Long after the romance has died, long after the idealism and feelings have faded, long after summer is gone, love survives because of commitment. When you grow old and no longer remember each others' name, just remember the word "HONEY". It will save you from the pitfalls of forgetfulness and will inspire a lot of people. Happy Anniversary!!!

Love in Time of Facebook

Farmville, Farmtown, Cityville, Social City, Frontierville, Marketplace, Pet Society, Sorority Life, Restaurant City, Cafe World....name it, I played it. I remember the days when I was so addicted in playing games not just to kill the time but it also requires strategic planning to level up. Oh, those days, but I do not intend to discuss those games on this post but rather the so called changed way of Filipino courtship now that Facebook is widely exalted by everyone.

Dated back to the old days, when a man found a woman interesting he cannot approached her on the street to ask for her number or address. Doing so will both subject them to criticisms. He should do it the proper way by introducing himself to the family and eventually to the girl. He also have to do the traditional Filipino way of courtship called "Harana" or Serenade at night and render servitude like gathering and chopping woods, fetching water and the like during the day.

Whereas today, courtship is more lenient. Often, teenagers and everyone express their love through Facebook. Sending messages, posting sweet words on your wall and not to mention those applications associated with Facebook with endless pick-up lines which make the couple  highly inlove with each other sometimes disregarding their family's views and opinions. It's more of "I don't care about you my family, I'm inlove and don't interfere, okay".

I'm not against Facebook. I have one of course, but I still love the traditional way of courtship. For me it is better and sweeter than any message sent on my inbox, better that those glittering images and colorful applications men posts on my wall. Isn't it sweet when a man visit your house and will express his love right in front of your family. That shows pure intention. Right?

As I am the one who will decide who I want but I like it more if my family would be involve and express their opinions with the man I choose and the most important thing is that the family of the man will accept me beyond words and matters.

For "YOU" who is Badly Broken

For someone who is experiencing heartache,
someone who's inlove but badly broken,

It's February and it's heart month. Happy Valentines everyone, however this post is not for me but for a  person who, I know is badly broken at this time. I will not mention the name for privacy purposes but I would like to express this feelings I have inside. If I could only talk to you right now. You need a crying shoulder but you're hiding the pain and that is what I'm afraid of. That kind of feeling is no stranger to me and you know that. Tell me to cross the China sea, I will. Tell me to climb Mount Everest, I will, without hesitation so you won't experience the same situation I had before. Really life is like a wheel, but with that being said, I never wished a lonely heart on you.

But in serious thoughts, I know you can pass the challenge. With what I know, you've been through a lot and this one will be just like threading a needle, right? Difficult but possible. I barely see you but whenever I do, you seem to be in a normal state. Life is normal, life is continuous, life is easy and life is simple that's what I see in you. You never change and you never did in some ways that I knew you. You're still the same more or less.

If only my words could reach you, I will say.... please let it out asshole. Cry when it's needed, share it when it seems to be insurmountable. A problem shared will be divided so it would be easy to carry upon your shoulder. You have us so don't take it hard on you. When you thought I may not understand, that is the time I do.

Remember this:

Fireproof - "Never Leave Your Partner Behind"

Yesterday, I watched the movie "Fireproof" and I just wanted to share how good and life touching it is. I searched for some pictures over the internet one is shown on the left side. The story revolves on how Caleb and Catherine saved their dying marriage threatened by divorce through a 40 days process through the "Love Dare". The challenge was instigated by Caleb's father whose marriage with his wife was also at stake once and who himself wrote the notes for the 40 days journey.

Caleb, though going through a hard process especially at the middle of the journey managed to make it, through the guidance of his father and help of his friend Michael. He was able to battle his addiction against internet pornography, learn how to love his wife again and most of all, to trust God and surrender everything to Him. In the end, the couple decided to renew their vows to make it a covenant with God and not just a mere contract. Below are my favorite lines from the movie. If you want to see a detailed review, you can click here so that you can be directed to the website of the Internet Movie Database.

1.)
Caleb Holt: Marriage isn't fireproof.
Michael Simmons: Fireproof doesn't mean the fire will never come. It means when the fire comes that you will be able to withstand it.

2.)
John Holt: Caleb, if I had to ask you why you're so frustrated with Catherine, what would you say?
Caleb Holt: She's stubborn. She makes everything difficult for me. She's ungrateful. She's constantly griping about something.

John Holt: Has she thanked you for anything you've done the last 20 days? (Caleb's Father)
Caleb Holt: No! And you'd think after I washed the car, I've changed the oil, do the dishes, cleaned the house, that she would try to show me a little bit of gratitude. But she doesn't! In fact, when I come home, she makes me like I'm - like I'm an enemy! I'm not even welcome in my own home, Dad. That is what really ticks me off! Dad, for the last three weeks, I have bent over backwards for her. I have tried to demonstrate that I still care about this relationship. I bought her flowers, which she threw away. I have taken her insults and her sarcasm, but last night was it. I made dinner for her. I did everything I could to demonstrate that I care about her, to show value for her, and she spat in my face! She does not deserve this, Dad. I'm not doing it anymore! How am I supposed to show love to somebody over and over and over who constantly rejects me?
John Holt: [touches, then leans against cross] That's a good question.

3.)
Mr. Rudolph: Don't speak to him, Erma. He's weird. (Caleb's neighbors)
Erma Rudolph: Takes one to know one.

4.)
Michael Simmons: The sad part about it is, when most people promise for better or for worse, they really only mean for the better.

5.)
Caleb Holt: You never leave your partner! Especially in a fire!

6.)
Michael Simmons: But just remember: a woman's like a rose; if you treat her right, she'll bloom, if you don't, she'll wilt. (Caleb's Friend)

7.)
Michael Simmons: 40 days? Does Catherine know?
Caleb Holt: I'm not gonna tell her. If she wants to go ahead and file, it's up to her.
Michael Simmons: Divorce is a hard thing, man.
Caleb Holt: Well, if it brings peace...
Michael Simmons: But Caleb, you want the right kind of peace.
Caleb Holt: What do you mean by that?
Michael Simmons: You know what that ring on your finger means?
Caleb Holt: It means I'm married.
Michael Simmons: Yeah, well, it also means you made a lifelong covenant. You putting on that ring, by saying your vows. The sad part about it is when most people promise for better or for worse, they really only mean for the better.
Caleb Holt: Catherine and I were in love when we got married. Today, we're two very different people. All right? It's just not working out anymore.
Michael Simmons: Caleb, salt and pepper are completely different. Their makeup is different; their taste and their color. But you always see 'em together. And when you... Hang on a second.
[Michael glues a salt and pepper shaker together]
Caleb Holt: What are you doing? Michael, what did you do that for?
Michael Simmons: Caleb, when two people get married; it's for better or for worse, for richer or for poor, in sickness and in health.
Caleb Holt: I know that. But marriages aren't fireproof. Sometimes you get burned.
Michael Simmons: Fireproof doesn't mean a fire will never come, but that when it comes you'll be able to withstand it.
Caleb Holt: You didn't have to glue them together.
[Caleb picks up the shakers and starts trying to force them apart]
Michael Simmons: Don't do it, Caleb. If you pull them apart now, you'll break either one or both of them.
Caleb Holt: I am not a perfect person, but better than most. And if my marriage is failing, it is not all my fault.
Michael Simmons: But Caleb, man, I've seen you run into a burning building to save people you don't even know. But you're gonna let your own marriage just burn to the ground.
Caleb Holt: Michael, you are my friend. And I have allowed you to speak freely to me on this job. Don't abuse it.

8.)
Caleb Holt: What? You were married to someone before Tina?
Michael Simmons: For one whole year. I got married for the wrong reasons, then I turned around and got a divorce for the wrong reasons. Man, I thought I was just following my heart.
Caleb Holt: Michael, I have worked with you for 5 years. You've never told me that.
Michael Simmons: Because I'm not proud of it! It was before I gave my life to the Lord. Man, I was only concerned about my rights and my needs. Man, I ruined her life. But when I gave my life to God, I tried to find her but she'd already remarried. So believe me when I tell you I got a big scar. Man, God meant marriage to be for life. That's why you gotta keep your vows to Catherine. You gotta beg God to teach you to be a good husband. And don't just follow your heart, man; 'cause your heart can be deceived. But you gotta lead your heart.

9.)
Anna Stone: ...if this doctor is trying to woo you while you're still married, what makes you think he won't do that with someone else? ( a patient at the hospital where Catherine is working)

10.)
Catherine Holt: So, what day are you on?
Caleb Holt: 43.
Catherine Holt: There's only 40.
Caleb Holt: Who says I have to stop?
Catherine Holt: Caleb, I don't know how to process this. This is not normal for you.
Caleb Holt: Welcome to the new normal.

Caleb Holt: I am sorry. I have been so selfish. For the past seven years, I have trampled on you with my words and with my actions. I have loved other things, when I should have loved you. In the last few weeks, God has given me a love for you that I have never had before. And I have asked Him to forgive me. And I am hoping, I am praying, that somehow you would be able to forgive me too. Catherine, I do not want to live the rest of my life without you.

Every quotations speak for themselves. Every conversation speaks it own lesson. I am so into it. Watch it. BTW, do you know what is Caleb's motto? "NEVER LEAVE YOUR PARTNER BEHIND"
